Alan Auto began back in the 1970's, starting out as just a service shop for all models of Volvos, new and old. Over time, Alan found himself doing more and more restorations over your basic repairs. So, in 2017 Alan sold off that part of the business and focused solely on the restoration side, his true passion.
The shop itself is probably one of the cleanest work spaces you've ever been in. Floors clean enough you could eat off of. A high powered ventilation system to help keep the space free of fumes. Anything that can be recycled, is separated and recycled. Even the used motor oil is recycled and used to heat the shop up in the winter months. Not to toot our own horn, but Alan Auto earned a Pollution Prevention Award from Gov. Angus King and the Maine Dept of Environmental Protection in 1995. |

The P1900 |
All restoration work is done in house. That includes all body work and paint, any interior work, and front end repair/upgrades.
What was once the "brand new 1982 240" is now common and its intricacies well known to us. As the years go on, each of these models evolves the same way. Yesterday’s daily drivers become today’s classics. Our expectation is that vehicles we restore should last at least another generation. We work to the highest professional standards to make this possible. Then we instruct our customers in ways to promote the longevity of their great cars. The finished product is far more than a means of transportation: it is art; it is history; it is beauty and it can be enjoyed by everyone who rides in it or even sees it driving by. |
The reviews speak for themselves...

"Yes, I received my 1990 240 and it is beautiful! It looks and drives just like new. You all did a great job in restoring it. The paint is perfect, all the molding is perfect, the engine compartment looks great, all the instruments work, it's fabulous. You all paid attention to the details, all the minute parts, and it shows in the finished product. Just what I wanted. When it was unloaded off the truck many neighbors were captivated by the beautiful pristine condition classic car.
Thank you and the team for all the great work that went into restoring my 240.
All the best, Randy"
"I have worked with Alan Auto on major restorations over the past twenty years, and have three award winning vintage Volvos as a result. There is no better, more experienced Volvo restoration specialist in North America that I am aware of. The staff is friendly, professional, and highly skilled, with the vast majority of all work, mechanical and body, done in house. The facilities are spacious and first rate, and the entirety is well maintained , well supplied, and unusually clean and tidy. Their pricing is not cheap, but fair --- restoration work, whether for an Aston or a Volvo is always going to be expensive and probably at least twice as much as expected. Alan himself is incredibly knowledgeable and still very much engaged in the process, which is what it is all about really." V.M.D.
